5 Stars Keeps on going when the going gets tough
I’ve had the little Viair 90p for about three years now. It’s used to pump up tires following off-road trips and sees plenty of use. When other compressors have difficulty pumping up four tires this little thing just keeps going and going pumping up tire-after-tire even in the heat. Other compressors thermal out, overheating and shutting down. The Viair puts out 1.77 cu.ft. of air a minute and puts a 33″ SUV tire from 18 psi to 36 psi in about four minutes. It uses a clamp-on valve connector which is quicker and easier to use then the kind that screws in place. Between the electrical cable and air hose it reaches all corners of my SUV with a bit of room to spare.

The compressor is excellent.

The pressure guage is useless (I haven’t seen one on any compressor that was accurate).

I had to splice in an extra 10 feet of power cord to reach the rear wheels of my pick-up truck.

Got this to carry in my Mini (along with a tire repair kit) since I went from the run-flats to real tires. Nicely-made unit, reasonable size, and comes in a nice soft case to put in the car. Worth the extra compared to the majority of the junk that’s out there at lower prices.

gage bent at 30 deg angle,and apparently damaged, upon opening box for first time; warranty of one year states to send it back to retailer to support warranty (what would happen past Amazon 30 day guarantee?) Made in China (of course). Still, I have not seen any other similar product online for cars that uses battery instead of cigarette outlet, so I may buy it again once I get credit for returned item.

4 Stars inexpensive insurance . . .
My experience with Slime has been limited to bicycle tires, where the product does a good job sealing up pinhole and other small punctures in the tire tube. I have never used Slime in an automobile tire, but since the materials are basically the same, I would assume that the product would work in a similar way.

For an automobile, where the flat occurs makes a big difference. If your car is parked and notice your tire is flat, this kit would probably be quite useful. You can at least use the compressor to pump up the tire and check how bad the leak is. If it is a fast leak, you can try using the Slime and see if it takes care of the problem. The car does not need to be jacked up to use the product.

If the puncture happens when the car is being driven, the problem is more serious. When you drive on tire that is significantly deflated or flat, most times you will do heavy duty damage, or tear the tire. If that happens, Slime won’t help. The tire will need to be replaced. The instructions state that Slime will not work on punctures greater than 1/4 inch. So basically, Slime is intended to address only minor tire damage.

The Smart Spair kit is a pretty good deal. It consists of a 16 ounce bottle of slime, and a compressor which plugs into the lighter outlet. According to the label, a 16 ounce bottle, should be adequate to treat one averaged sized tire. The 16 ounce bottle is available at Amazon for about nine dollars. Subtract this cost from the price of the kit, and you are getting the compressor for less than fifteen dollars, which is not a bad deal. The compressor has a pressure valve, ten foot cord, and on/off switch. It is pretty noisy, and seems to have a reasonably quick pump rate. It is rated for use on a minimum 15 amp circuit. Some older cars have lighter circuits rated at only 8 amps, so you may want to check this before you buy.

Hopefully I will not have to use the Smart Spair. Based on the good (though limited) experience I have with Slime, I thought it would be good to have around, just in case. There are many situations, where changing a tire at the side of the road, can be hazardous. A kit like this could be valuable to those that are not capable of, jacking up their vehicle and changing the tire. It does not take a mechanical genius to follow the directions.

What can I say, simple & quick flat repair especially for my motorcycle. Rode 2100 miles after pulling a nail out before getting internal patch put on, never ever leaked one pound of air the entire trip with this Slime in it!! It would have been a long hard push to a safe spot and waiting for a tow truck then finding a MC shop to repair the tire if not for Slime kit. A serious MUST have!

Got this for my wife to fix roadside flats. She had one in the driveway and cold not get any tool through the nail hole.

2 Stars Too many cut corners
Why make a product like this that’s just kind of so-so? For 10% more effort they could have made it 50% better.

-the instructions don’t explain why there are three different devices to thread the sticky stuff into the tire.

-the sticky plugs don’t fit in the handle! Make them half an inch shorter, or make the handle half an inch longer. Easy!

-the kit includes rubber cement. For…? No explanation at all.

-the capper on the handle to hold all the stuff is this spring loaded swing out thing that doesn’t stay closed. Just make it a simple pop-in cap.

-I bought two, for different vehicles, and one of them came without the rasper tool.

Most of it is silly stuff, but why not just make better stuff?

I haven’t used it to plug a tire yet but the product seems to be well made. I like that all the tools fit in the handle. Makes for easy storeage under a motorcycle seat. I would recommend to a friend.

Plugged the unit into my motorcycle battery to test it. It worked for almost 1 second before it quit and never worked again. Worthless piece of junk. Don’t waste your time or money.
